It was very hard to find a quote that he actually said when he was alive, so I found a quote that was probably used in the movie Cinderella Man. (That was obviously said by him.)

What- A successful amateur boxer throughout New Jersey and later entered the professional boxing circuit in the light heavyweight division.

When- He was born on June 7, 1905 and became professional in the year 1926

Where- Born in a tiny apartment on West 48th street in New York City

Why- Jim Braddock grew up poor and later, when he was older, he was living in the years of the Great Depression, and his only concern was to win the fights and get some money to buy his family food and shelter.

Armstrong and Braddock Similarities

Some of the different similarities that Lance Armstrong and James Braddock have is that they are both very resilient. One way that Lance Armstrong is resilient is because he fights cancer and other diseases everyday, and still manages to shake it off, and keep riding his bicycle and winning marathons.One way that James Braddock is resilient is because he was super poor, and could barely afford to put food on the table for his family. James Braddock thought that the only way that he could get some money was to win boxing matches, so James Braddock faced the challenge, and started becoming a great/well known boxer.There are tons of ways that these two people are similar. One way is because they both overcame a huge challenge that was put in their way and stood up for themselves and overcame that specific challenge.

Where-Career started in Plano, Texas.
Why-He's resilient because he was determined to succeed and pursue his biking dream even with his career ending diseases.

Connection-James J. Braddock and Lance Armstrong are connected because they both fought through their tragic times, against all odds to pursue their dreams and goals.
